I love that quote and I have to say that it really feels like people are waking up to the fact that the mortar of their communities is under attack. I've been interviewing conservative Republicans in Texas who are opposed to vouchers for the next episode of Have You Heard and you can feel this sentiment in what they told me.

Oh and HB 115, the bill that would remove income limits for the voucher program....that was before the Education Funding Committee on Thursday 1/16. There was over 5 hours of public testimony on it which you can see on YouTube. ReachingHigherNH.org has the link on their site. The online voting results: roughly 800 support and 3400 oppose.

There is a spreading movement to put articles on town warrants for the upcoming town meetings that address the problems of the state abdicating its constitutional obligation to provide an adequate education to all students, and the voucher system that will have cost $73 million by the end of this school year and for which there are no minimum standards, no oversight and no accountability. So far, something like 30 towns may be moving this through. I'm bringing it to my town, Grantham.

And yet TN Gov. Bill Lee is working hard at it - even calling a special legislative session to pass a voucher bill.
